You are allowed to have a life outside the studio.
Hobbies, friend time, and rest that make you better, not behind.
Time away from dance is not wasted time. Rest and other interests recharge the exact parts of you that dance uses up, which is why so many great dancers are also readers, bakers, artists, and outdoor kids.
Your muscles grow on rest days, not training days. Your brain works the same way. Stepping away from choreography lets everything you practiced sink in.
Ever notice how a step you struggled with on Friday sometimes just works on Monday? That is your brain doing homework while you were off having a life.
Creative: baking something new, friendship bracelets, painting, learning three chords on a ukulele, starting a summer scrapbook.
Active but different: bike rides, swimming, roller skating, hiking with the family dog. Different movement wakes up different muscles.
Totally chill: a library stack of books you picked yourself, puzzle afternoons, movie nights where you are in charge of snacks.
Studio friends are wonderful, but friends who do not dance are a gift too. With them, you are not "the dancer." You are just you, and that version of you needs hangout time to stay strong.
Plan one thing this month with a friend that has nothing to do with dance. No technique talk allowed.
Some days the most productive thing you can do is nothing. Pajamas, a blanket, a show you have seen ten times.
Rest is not falling behind. Rest is how you make sure the girl who shows up Monday is the best version of you.
